First, a little backstory
For decades, we’ve taught business writers the “pyramid principle,” an approach to business communication that originated in management consulting. In full-day workshops, we covered the fundamentals of “top-down” storylines that learners could adapt to any communication, written or spoken.
Flash forward to today
With time at a premium, and AI tools providing so much help, we now offer a short workshop – 2 hours – focused on one type of writing – decks. This learning experience distills the wisdom of the top-down approach into practical rules that anyone can apply immediately.
What you get in this workshop
Join us to learn 5 best practices for sharing business insights in decks – paving the way for better meetings, stronger collaboration, and speedier decision making. You’ll find ways to cut the clutter and foreground structured, well-supported messages that answer the questions that matter most to your audience.
Best practices include:
- Plan a top-down storyline with a meaningful executive summary
- Give each slide a message title
- Visualize data to reinforce your message
- Illustrate your concepts
- Get the level of detail right for your audience
To help the learning stick after the workshop, your paid enrollment includes a complementary, follow-up 30-minute 1:1 coaching session with a Kenning coach to focus on editing and improving one of your decks.
Expect a highly interactive, hands-on workshop with all materials provided.
